The Havana Conference

Deported to Italy after the war, Charles 'Lucky' Luciano slipped into Cuba to be closer to America. In December 1946 the leaders of the American underworld flew to Havana for a week of meetings at the Hotel Nacional, disguised as a party for a young crooner from New Jersey, Frank Sinatra, who came along and sang. They talked about who would lead, about Las Vegas, and about Havana's casinos. Nobody is hurt here. The words are imagined.
